Kayaking at Chester Woods
Tonight the humidity finally dropped enough that I went out kayaking at Chester Woods. It was a great night for it, nice cool weather, and the lake was like glass. I was not the only one out there though, a few boats were on the water and a lot of people were fishing from the dock.
I paddled around for quite some time, then as I turned a corner I saw something in the water. At first I thought it was a dog, but as I got closer it was a very large beaver. The head of the beaver was the same size as my black lab, Alexis. I followed it for a while before it hit the water with it’s tail and disappeared.
Afterwards I decided to start heading to shore as the sun was starting to go down. As I pulled into the boat launch a family came down to meet me. I wasn’t sure why as I have never seen these people before. But the guy asked if I wanted to kayak for a couple more minutes. It turns out that his little girl had dropped their bug repellant in the water when they went over the bridge. I paddled over and got it, and the little girl thanked me. It was really sweet and she said it like one of those super hero movies. I guess that would’ve made me Kayak-Man.
So all in all, I really NEEDED to go kayaking tonight. I have been so busy with work and other stuff that a night on the lake is just what I needed to clear my head and put me in better spirits. Which is good because tomorrow is Monday and the start of another week.
Michael Flores, you’re my hero. (said like Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) LOL
